A Night at Fashion District

Hi Lovelies

Happy Easter, hope you’re all having a lovely weekend. On Thursday night myself and Lisa D hit the road again on another little adventure. This time our destination was Fashion District Pop-Up Shopping Outlet in Mullingar’s Bloomfield House Hotel. We were kindly invited to the event by the lovely Elaine Bradley-Ryan. Elaine is a total fashionista and a stylist for our fave jewellery Stella & Dot (check out her Facebook page “Elaine Bradley-Ryan, Stella & Dot Stylist”). When we heard what was involved for the night we were all over it and super excited to go…fashion, jewellery, vintage, hair & makeup demos, free bubbly!!!

The event ran from 7-11pm and when we got there shortly after 7 it was in full swing. We didn’t waste any time and started to browse the fashion rails straight away. There was some gorgeous pieces for sale from some fab boutiques, Cocoon, Nells Closet, BeYoux and Deja Vu to name a few. The bargains were unbelievable, one dress that caught our eye was reduced from €218 to just €50!! A boutique we particularly liked the look of was Deja Vu (Deja Vu Ranelagh on Facebook). They had the prettiest Louboutins for sale, second hand but in perfect condition. We also spotted some Louis Vuitton and Jimmy Choo while we were there.

Being the magpies that we are we were totally besotted with all the Stella & Dot jewellery on show. I’m a big fan of Stella & Dot and hosted a trunk show last year. A stylist came to my house and all my friends came around and we could try on all the pieces and order anything we wanted to purchase. At the time I bought a gold charm bracelet with 4 charms and a delicate gold arrow necklace. I’ve worn both constantly since then and they’re still perfect. Our faves on display last night were these gorgeous stacking rings and the multiway earrings. Is it too early to start our 2016 Santy list??

After we had our fill of shopping we took our seats for the part we always enjoy most…the makeup demo. The makeup artist in action last night was Angela Greene of Monroe.ie. We were delighted to see some of our favourite products ready for the demo, we spied the Penneys brush holder and brush and the Cocoa Brown Golden Goddess oil. Angela seemed to be a makeup artist after our own hearts!! The demo was a quick and easy everyday makeup look achievable for busy mammys. Her finished look was beautiful and fresh and she showed us then how to make a few tweeks to turn it into a glam night-time look using Ken Boylan products. When Angela was finished we seen Vaida from First Floor Hair & Beauty create some easy-peasy hair looks to complement the makeup. We were busy taking notes and we can’t wait to try them out for ourselves.

The style on show rivalled any wedding or day at the races we’ve ever been to and it was no wonder with a prize for Best Dressed Lady up for grabs. Lisa McGowan from Lisas Lust List was judging the best dressed and her pick was gorgeous. The best dressed lady wore a beige ankle length jumpsuit with an Obi belt and tan boots, we had spotted her earlier and commented on how fab her outfit was!! To finish off the night we were treated to a style masterclass from stylist Julie Cobbe from Stylefish.ie. Julie talked us through how to detox our wardrobes….if you haven’t worn it in a year get rid, if it doesn’t fit you and hasn’t fitted you for a long time…get rid!! She also gave us great advice on dressing for our body shape and how to identify our body shape….as much as I would like to think I’m hourglass I’m afraid I’m more of an apple!! It was an eye opener and we came away with lots of new tips and learned lots.

We had a great night and we’re so looking forward to the next Fashion District but we might need a bus next time to bring all the girls (and our shopping!!) with us….

Until next time

Christmas Party Look!

Hello Ladies!!

Yeahhhh it’s Christmas Party season and we all know what that means, new festive styles, shops been hit hard looking for that special outfit that is going to make you look drop dead gorgeous, bank balance at an all time low, well fear not as I have found some nice little pieces for you to through your eye over and not only that I will show you a makeup inspo look to match! Tadahhh!!

First up has to be from Penneys Christmas Party Look! Penneys is totally in the game when it comes to bang on trend style, there pieces would give the likes of other well known brands a run for their money!!

Jacket €40, Top €10, Skirt €12, Shoes €23

This look is my favourite! Totally up my ally with the leather skirt which is such a statement piece in itself!

Next up is a gorgeous Playsuit from Topshop, now I know these can be quite complicating when we get a few beverages into us, but hey that’s what friends are for right?!!

Topshop Playsuit €98 , Heels €18 , Clutch €10 both Penneys

The Playsuit is quite expensive so this is why I choose the heels and clutch from Penneys, just to show that you can overindulge in one item but save in another!!

Next up is from Dorethy Perkins !  Of course I had to feature a LBD but this one is with sequins!  Definitely a party show stopper that can be easily accessoried with just a simple black heel!

Dress €45, Heels €29,

Now to choose a makeup look for your Christmas night!  Well to be honest you cannot go wrong with a classic red lip!  It’s classy, elegant and compliments any outfit! My favourite combo has to be Mac Cosmetics Cherry lip liner paired with Russian Red lipstick!  On the eyes I wore a nude/gold shade on the lid and smoked it out using shades of browns, underneath I applied a brown kohl pencil and smudged it out using a flat head brush with a soft brown shadow to help blend it out!

That’s it from me ladies, hope you all have a fab weekend and have a ball at all the parties you get to attend!

Until next time ladies!

A Little London Haul

Hi Everyone,

My lovely Mam turned 60 this month and last weekend my sister and myself took her to London to celebrate. We are partial to a little poke around the shops and every year we head off for a weekend around this time. As this was a special birthday we thought a trip to London would be a nice treat. Now most people would get giddy thinking about hitting the shops. All the clothes, the shoes, the bags…. But for me it’s the makeup aisle that makes my heart flutter. All those pots and jars and tubes of magic, big shiny cosmetic halls in big shiny department stores, I just can’t get enough!! I had to have a little word with myself before I even got to the airport (hellooo Mac just past security!!). Like…….I do not NEED more makeup…but I want it. With this in mind I only bought a couple of things…

First up was Primark Oxford St, one of the biggest Penneys I’ve ever seen. I was excited to see their beauty section but I have to say…. I was a bit disappointed. It was tiny compared to the Blanchardstown or Whitewater Penneys we’re used to here. I didn’t let that put me off though and I was ready to rummage for some beauty goodies. Their range of products was good with the PS Love range stealing the show. We’re big fans of the PS Love products and last week we posted our faves. They had all the lipliners, highlighters and lipsticks we know and love aswell as some eyeliners and liquid illuminators I hadn’t seen before and it was the illuminators that took my fancy.

My first impressions of these are that they are along the lines of the Boots Botanics Radiance Balm we have all been going nuts for, or even Mac Strobe Cream. Used under or mixed into foundation these creams brighten up the skin and give a gorgeous glow. The Illuminate – Skin Brightening Cream is a white cream not unlike Strobe Cream and the Liquid Glow – Radiant Highlighter Cream is more peachy-pink. I’m looking forward to giving these a good test and will post a review soon with what I think. We haven’t seen these in Ireland yet but keeping the eyes peeled.

Next up was the Mac store on Carnaby St. This is a pro-store and one of the only stores in London that you can get your discount if you are a Mac Pro member. My first purchase was a bottle of Prolongwear Nourishing Waterproof foundation. This foundation has been getting rave reviews with it’s big selling points being excellent coverage and longevity. It all sounds very promising so I thought I’d try it for my kit thinking ahead to some weddings I am booked for abroad next year.

I also picked up a new Pro Palette with a 24 liquid insert. I’ve wanted one of these for ages , it’s the perfect solution for downsizing my lipstick collection as well as making them easier to see. As it is now, I spend so much time rooting around my lipsticks trying to find the one I want, not good in a hurry!! I will have to depot my lipsticks and melt them down into the palette. I will do a full blog post when I have it done to show you all.

Lastly I picked up Viva Glam 2 lipstick and Everyone’s Darling eyeshadow from the Macnificent Me collection. Viva Glam 2 was a repurchase , it’s a perfect pinky/browny/mauvy colour that I always have on the go. Everyone’s Darling is a deep red burgundy in a matte, perfect for this time of year 🙂

Not a bad little haul me thinks, a few necessities without breaking the bank 🙂

Until next time,

It’s all about the Glitz N Pieces

Hey lovely ladies,

How quick did that weekend go!  I have had the busiest week with work, then a Saturday night celebration to top it off and a Sunday filled with catching up on mummy duties, you know what I’m talking about #exhausted !! Any how thats another blog!!  But getting to the post in hand, while I was out over the weekend I had a few compliments on the above piece of jewellery that I wore.  So I thought, while lying up watching the first episode of Breaking Bad (I know i’m a bit late in the game!) why not write a quick post of the details!

The two pieces that I purchased were from an Irish company called Glitz n Pieces @www.glitznpieces.com  they stock amazing affordable fashion accessories such as necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, bags, hair accessories etc…and have a very easy online shopping website to purchase from.  So for those of you, like me that don’t get out of town to often, will find this right up your street!

The picture on the left is the ‘Luxe Necklace’ which is €16.50.  It is a dainty delicate gold chain with two connecting circles.  it’s a beautiful piece with one circle encrusted with silver rhinestone jewels & the second smaller circle is gold in colour with roman script engraved.

On the right is the ‘Peace Symbol Necklace’ €15.00.  This is from their luxury range.  It is a gold coloured chain with a symbol of peace pendant.  Peace is something we could all do with!!

I am not one for very chunky jewellery, I like simple but yet eye catching pieces that don’t get tiresome looking and will suit almost every outfit that you put on, whether it be for a night out or a casual day time look.

This accessory brand is very much loved by our Irish fashionistas and business women with the likes of Holly Carpenter, Pippa O’Connor, Joanne Larby aka The Makeup Fairy, Rosanna Davidson and Marissa Carter to name but a few all wearing gorgeous pieces.  I will definitely be adding more to my Glitz n Pieces collection, I think it’s going to be bracelet next (hope the hubby is reading this post)!!

With Christmas (there I said it Christmas!!) only around the corner, these would make pretty gorgeous gifts for under the tree at an affordable price, it’s a win win situation all round really.

Right so that’s me over and out and back to episode 2 of Breaking Bad, think I’m hooked already!

Until next time,

Live Pretty xx
